A synthetic demo grid, classed with equal intervals — the point is the palette against real basemap ink, not the data. Switch themes to see how much basemap the palette leaves room for.

Provenance
RdPu climbs from a pale pink through magenta to a deep purple — ColorBrewer's answer to the case where you want warm intensity without the fire-map connotations of YlOrRd. It is part of the same 2002 ColorBrewer 2.0 release from Brewer and Harrower and is flagged colorblind-safe there.
When to use it
Useful when a map already spends its reds on another layer and you still need a warm ordered ramp — think a magenta density surface over a red-lined transport network. The pink low classes are delicate: they hold on a white or near-white basemap and disappear over imagery. Seven classes is comfortable here because the hue shift from pink to purple is doing real ordering work.
