A synthetic demo grid, classed with equal intervals — the point is the palette against real basemap ink, not the data. Switch themes to see how much basemap the palette leaves room for.

Provenance
Hawaii travels magenta through maroon, olive and green to a pale cyan — the widest hue span in Crameri's sequential set, and correspondingly the most useful when a reader has to identify narrow bands rather than judge overall magnitude. It is built with the same perceptual-uniformity method as batlow and ships in the same MIT-licensed Zenodo release, with the family's documented color-vision-deficiency readability.
When to use it
Reach for it when a long right tail needs to stay legible across many classes — log-scaled counts, income, exposure — and viridis or batlow start collapsing in the middle. The magenta low end is unusual enough that readers will not mistake it for a basemap feature. It is a bright palette overall: keep it off saturated styles, and prefer it for fills over lines.
